====== Dawn of a New Day ======

The sun rises, slowly. Everyone watches with their breath held, as if the sun might change its mind and return to its weeks-long slumber.

But it doesn't.

And as everyone finally dares breathe again, feels the weight of weeks of nightmares finally shed itself off their shoulders, the last dregs of the night flee as light reclaims the realm of Mydreign.

----

Beyond the edge of the world, the remnants gather into the crude shape of a Serpent, its form indistinct as it bleeds into the light around it.

Soon, even this fragment will be gone.

Another figure stands nearby. Six arms held behind Its back, hooded head looking off into the distance. Watching a distant world with distant eyes.

"And so, this story, too, comes to an end." It speaks and yet makes no noise. "Was it everything you desired?"

"...no." Night admits. "For all their effort, for all their feats, they could not replace Them."

The figure nods. "But was it good?"

Night doesn't answer.

"They will remember you." A sentence spoken with a strange softness. A comfort freely given. "None of them were the one Hero you desired, yet they are the protagonists of their own stories. Heroes in their own right, all of them."

A slight smile touches the Serpent's lips.

"...then I am glad to have been a part of their tale."
