The Sea of Light

Amulets of Water Breathing help you explore underwater without depleting your oxygen bar.

To the southeast of Mydreign lies the great Sea of Light. While primarily home to Luminymph, it is also an important hub for learning and commerce; other species may settle in the area for business, study, or simply the sea view.

Flora and fauna in the region are often bioluminescent; as night falls, the waves are tinted with an array of hues.

Fisher Cove

Nestled afoot the great cliffs bordering the Sea is the tranquil settlement of Fisher Cove, home to a small population of land-dwelling Luminymph. The village is small, but still manages to maintain a few seaside attractions, including a lighthouse, a pier, and a waterfront fish restaurant.

Lighthouse

The Lighthouse is Fisher Cove's tallest structure by far, and one of the tallest structures in Mydreign (after Castle Mydreign and Mount Incisor). It is currently empty but for a rusty mechanism by which the light may be turned on and off.

Jo's Fish Eatery

Many consider Jo's Fish Eatery – a small, windswept restaurant by the sea – a home away from home. Night or day, rain or shine, owner and head chef Jo welcomes all who are weary from travelling or selling their wares with a hearty meal of fish. Be it battered, poached, or stewed, she'll remember your preference – and a few handy tips about the point you're stuck at in your quest.

Koralia

Venturing deep beneath the waves reveals the vast, sprawling expanse of Koralia, a self-governing city-state. Most of Koralia's buildings are made from coral, with openings in the coral covered with woven kelp. Central to Koralia is the Gilded Court: a massive palace carved out of a coral reef and embellished with gold, home to Koral royalty and its fleet of servants.

Flanking the Gilded Court are the densely-packed buildings of the Grand Academy, Mydreign's centre of learning. Mydreignites in search of knowledge flock here, either embarking on studies alone or apprenticing themselves to a Luminymph in their area of expertise.

Once a year, Koralians gather to celebrate the knowledge they have each gained in the year, typically bringing small representations of their findings. Festivities stretch on for days at a time; for non-Luminymph Mydreignites, invitations to these festivals (sent with temporary water-breathing potions) are well sought after.

However, due to the secretive and insular nature of Koral society, it is rare that non-Luminymph Mydreignites live in Koralia long-term; even students typically leave after finishing their course of study.

Further out from Koralia lies a tangle of caves and hydrothermal vents; one such cave is home to Chela, the guardian of the Sea of Light and custodian of all that is lost.

The Great Raft

Acting as an intermediary between Koralia and the rest of Mydreign, the Great Raft is a busy floating market anchored above the reef. Inhabitants of Koralia surface here to trade their items (and ideas) with outsiders; travelling merchants and scholars from other lands also find welcome shelter here.

The Raft sells a variety of wares produced in Koralia – primarily books, but also artisan items such as fine weaving, baskets, maps, and other magical items; even processed kelp and fish leather (both important raw materials for Mydreign’s industries). Similarly, other merchants from around Mydreign set up shop on the Raft to sell their wares to Koralians.

The Raft is built to be easily evacuated; in the event of poor weather or choppy seas, inhabitants of the Raft jump ship and take refuge in Koralia.
