Outskirts of Mydreign

Some places that are worthy of exploration may be difficult to reach.

There are some areas of Mydreign that hold even more secrets than the rest of the world. Not much is known about these locations.

Mydreign's Swamp, nestled between The Lizard’s Fangs Volcanoes and The Sea of Light, is not a particularly pleasant place. The vegetation is far too dense, and the air far too damp.

Guarding the outskirt of the swamp from mischievous Mydlin children and explorers with untoward intentions is Ol' Man Barrow. It is said that he is more than just a guard of the area, but a keeper of its secrets…

Legend has it that far, far above Mydreign is a flourishing kingdom of winged creatures. It has been a very long time since such creatures have been seen near the ground, though it is said that their land must be a paradise if they see no need to come down. So far, the strongest evidence of their existence is the formation in Eagle Rock, but the full origin story of this formation is unclear.

While there is ongoing debate on whether the Sky Islands exist, with an equal split between existence and non-existence, no theories have been put forward on how to access the Islands.

Around the edge of the world sits a wall of mist. Some have tried to walk into the mist but, even if the path they walk is straight and true, they always end up back where they began, somehow turned around within the mist itself. The mist wall remains where it is, neither encroaching upon the known areas of Mydreign, nor receding to uncover what is currently hidden.

There are many rumours about the mist. Some say that through the fog they have seen outlines of strange creatures, unlike any that exist in the rest of Mydreign. Others say that there is an end to the mist, if you know how to traverse it properly. Some stories report that those who frequently attempt to explore the mist find themselves changed over time. Whether any truth exists in these tales is unknown.
